Review Summary:

The new Vanquish is being marketed as the “Ultimate Grand Tourer”, and so it might be. It looks great, sounds great, and smells great. But is it great?

Pros

Flawless exterior and interior design

Cons

You probably have to be a part of the Mafia to be able to afford one...

Looks

The 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish, where do we start? Well, it’s the best looking car in the world, ever. Reviewing cars like this is much harder than you would imagine, but really there is very little to be critical of. From the bonnet to the sculpted rear-wheel arches… sorry, we can’t see anything wrong with it, and think that the picture says it all.

Feels

The showroom Vanquish that I saw had red leather interior, and I mean that the entire inside was red, apart from the steering wheel. The flowing curves that make the outside so sexy are continued inside, and it’s all finished exquisitely. Be warned if you go and look at one, you will find it hard to get out!

Engineering

The Vanquish succeeds the DBS, so it can trace its mechanical roots back to that masterstroke of a car. It has been designed for maximum comfort, which is obviously standard for a GT car. To help with the ride, a lightweight, aluminium front sub-frame with hollow castings houses a double wish-bone set up which is aimed to absorb bumps like a sponge.

What’s on offer?

There is only one Vanquish available, and you can own one for the jaw-dropping price of AED 1,185,000. That is an awful lot of money, but you do get a lot of standard features as well as two-seats and 6.0 litre V12 engine, which at 6750RPM will produce 565hp and 620Nm of torque.

Summing it…

Ok, it’s the best looking car – ever, in this writer’s opinion – with the coolest name ever conceived for a car. It looks great from every angle, comes with myriad standard features, and is as comfortable as a lounge. But boy, is it expensive.
