McLaren 650S set to make dramatic Middle Eastern debut

One of the greatest British motoring marques, McLaren Automotive, has announced that the newest model to its range will be making its Middle Eastern debut in Dubai from 30th March until 3rd April, . With an extremely limited number of private viewings organized during the span of five days, you’d have to be pretty special to get an invite to admire the 650S in person.

Available in Coupé and Spider bodystyles, the slots in between the famous MP4-12C and highly praised P1. Mastering skills that have been learnt from its siblings, the 650S is the fastest, most engaging, best equipped and most beautiful series-production supercar yet from McLaren Automotive.

Inspired by the McLaren P1, the front end of the 650S follows the brand’s ethos of ‘form follows function’. Not only does the front bumper provide a dramatic appearance, but the front splitter contributes to increased downforce that enhances handling and high speed balance as well.

In Coupe guise, the 650S dashes from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, before conquering the 200 km/h mark in 8.4 seconds and continuing to its 333 km/h top speed. To put into perspective, the latest offering from McLaren is an entire second quicker than the iconic McLaren F1 road car to hit the 200 km/h mark.

The is mechanically identical to the 650S Coupé and is fitted with the unique McLaren M838T twin turbo V8 engine, producing 641 horsepower and 678 Nm of torque. This means a 0-100 km/h sprint of 3.0 seconds, identical to the Coupé, and 200 km/h is reached in 8.6 seconds, only 0.2 seconds shy of the fixed-head model.

The McLaren 650S Coupe is priced from AED 1,048,500 and the 650S Spider is priced from AED 1,161,000. Deliveries to customers in the Middle East region begins in September 2014.
