Review Summary:

Mercedes-Benz has many contenders for the “best-looking car” award, and certainly the CL is near the top of the list!

Looks

Without doubt, the 2014 is one of the top-three best looking cars available in the world. Ok, that might sound a bit OTT, but a 2-door that is based on the S-Class and styled like the CLS? It just looks fantastic from every angle.

Feel

The CL certainly feels like a Mercedes, and there are a lot of S-Class and CLS similarities. The two-tone leather options and “designo” leather/wood combinations are finished very well. The ambient lighting, when on, brings an aura of calm to the interior making its occupants feel relaxed and comfortable.

Engineering

As you would expect, there is plenty on offer from the CL-Class. Along with the standard tricks, like navigation, Bluetooth, TV Tuner, temperature-controlled seats and electric roller blinds, it also has quirky features such as night-view assist. It also comes with an enhanced anti-theft protection system, which is in addition to the anti-tow away system and motion sensors.

What’s on offer?

The CL is one of Mercedes’ most expensive offerings, with the entry level model, the CL 500, starting at AED 551,000. The CL 600 is a further AED 140,000 on top of that, and the CL 63 AMG an additional AED 20,000 more. But it doesn’t stop there, no. The top line CL 65 AMG will set you back a whopping AED 957,000. With 630hp and 1000Nm of torque available, the CL 65 AMG is an engineering hammer-blow.

Summing it

Expensive? Yes. But powerful and stunning? Equally yes. Naturally there aren’t many of us who will be able to afford even the entry level CL, but there is no harm in dreaming. It is an agonisingly good looking car, and the power figures offered by the CL 65 AMG are truly mind-blowing.
