Review Summary:

The Porsche 911 had better watch out, the big cat has let its new F-type out, and it’s hungry for the number “1” spot…

Well engineered
Interior fit and finish

Fuel economy
Luggage space

The all-new was launched last year and created a positive stir throughout the motoring journalist world. Initially launched as a soft-top , a new model is now also available. It’s a handsome son of a gun for sure. Both the and convertible look fantastic from every angle, and at the risk of presenting myself as a lazy journalist, I shall say no more about it and leave you to enjoy the pictures in peace.

2014 Jaguar F-Type front convertible

Jaguar is no longer a car manufacturer for those who reside in stately homes. The wood-panels and horse brasses are gone, replaced with slim-line silver and clinical computers. Clearly having moved with the times, the 204 Jaguar F-Type offers its occupants a glimpse into the future of driving comfort and style. Unlike the 911, where you can’t help but feel like you’re over-compensating for something, the F-Type will make you feel young without giving others the impression that you’re trying too hard.

2014 Jaguar F-Type interior

This is a sports car, and it has been engineered to perform. On paper it all looks good, with the range topper coming with 5.0 litre V8. The suspension has been adapted to ride an apex without any bounce, and there are a whole host of electronic features designed to provide ultimate performance.

What’s on offer?

There are six different F-Type models floating around; three coupes and three convertibles. The base coupe begins at AED 289,000, whereas the base soft top starts at AED 309,000. At the other end of the price list we find the V8 S convertible at AED 429,000 and the R coupe crowning the order at AED 459,000. This latter model comes with a 5.0 litre V8 supercharged engine that gets to 100kp/h in 4 seconds and can climb as high as 300kp/h!

Summing it

Stunning good looks, superb interior, decent model variations, options of coupe or convertible… what more is there say? The F-Type picks up where the old E-Type left off in the seventies. It’s a staggeringly pretty car in both its body styles, surely those at the Porsche factory must be sweating a little bit?
