2014 Kia Sorento | new car review
With straight lines running along the body, flared wheel arches, large vertical fog lamps and sizeable mesh grille’s; along with stunning headlights that house an elegant strip of LED’s and distinctive rear combination lamps, the Kia Sorento is without a doubt, the best looking SUV in Kia’s line-up.
Unlike the exterior, the interior isn’t oozing with designs that will have you questioning if it is a Kia. Hard plastics come in abundance and even with the optional black wood trim, you’re unlikely to fool anyone that the Sorento is a premium SUV. On the upside, the Sorento is filled to the brim with features. Everything from mood lighting to a panoramic roof, to sunshades on the 2nd row windows, and seat warmers for the 1st and 2nd row, ensure you and your six passengers travel in style and comfort.
The adaptive front lighting system automatically points the headlamps in the same direction the vehicle is heading based on travelling speed and steering movements, resulting in improved nighttime visibility.
What’s on offer?
The Sorento is available with two engine options. The smaller 2.4 litre puts out 174 horsepower and 227 Nm of torque, while the bigger 3.5 litre V6 is good for 276 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque. There’s good news for the ‘row-your-own’ kind of guys too. Both engines are available with either a 6 speed automatic or manual transmission and the AWD drive system is the icing on the cake.
The 2014 Kia Sorento is a fine offering from Kia. It looks stylish, is filled with features and is a comfortable family hauler. With a price tag ranging from AED 84,900 – AED 119,000, there is very little reason why you shouldn’t snag one at the first opportunity you get!
