New Mercedes-Benz S-Class image leaked
A genuine slip of the finger between ‘preview’ and ‘post’ or a clever leak designed to ramp up the interest in the new Mercedes Benz S-Class?
We may never know, but two weeks ahead of its launch, when the Austrian Mercedes-Benz website’s mobile version “accidentally” posted a picture of the new S-Class, the image stayed live just long enough for it be grabbed by a French media site and thereafter to escape into the big wide internet world.
There are already some spy shots in existence giving a good all round view of the car which effectively replaces two models, the current S-Class and the soon to be discontinued Maybach, but this is the first official image to be seen of the exterior. And judging by the sporty alloys and deep front valance this may be a rendering of one of the sportier versions of the newcomer.
A variety of petrol and diesel engine configurations from straight 4, through V6, V8 and onto to a V12 flagship, as well as hybrid and even a plug-in hybrid are thought to be on the cards, but we will all have to wait until the car’s official launch date of May 15 to get full details.
