Porsche to introduce the new Panamera S E-Hybrid

is launching the Panamera S E-Hybrid with 416 HP of system power- the world’s first plug-in hybrid to the luxury class. The revelation is all set to be staged at Auto China in Shanghai that opens its gates on April 21, 2013.

The Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo, Porsche’s two luxurious Executive versions are also making their debut. An extended wheelbase for these two models will be available in left-hand-drive markets. The new models are more efficient, sporty, comfortable and elegant in design.

The Panamera S E-Hybrid is packed with a more powerful electric motor, a higher performance battery supplying more energy and can be charged externally from the electric grid. The electric drive produces 95 HP which is more than double the power of the previous model’s electric motor at 47 HP.

Electricity is driven from a newly developed lithium-ion battery which offers a capacity of 9.4 kWh. Charging the vehicle will take approximately two and a half hours when connected to a 240 V power source.

Fuel consumption is reduced by 56% to 3.1 l/100 km. With that the CO2 emissions are also low at 71 g/km.

With the NEDC-based testing, the range was measured at 36 kilometers. However, in a realistic everyday setting it would lie somewhere between 18 and 36 km. If you are lucky to be driving in ideal conditions, it can go beyond this range.

The Panamera S E-Hybrid holds the capacity to achieve a top track speed of 270 km/h and it requires barely 5.5 seconds to fire from 0 to 100 km/h. In pure electric drive mode, the maximum speed is 135 km/hour.

Packed with all the techy tidbits, the Panamera S E-Hybrid embodies an entirely new range of convenience functions. These functions can be activated using a smart phone app. With the phone application, you can see the battery charge status, turn on preheating or precooling and much more.

On the exterior, the new Panamera has tighter lines, pronounced contouring and freshly shaped body elements that give the vehicle its hot looks. Full-LED headlights, which lend the new generation a striking appearance, are now an option.

Like the package? You can place your order right away. However, Porsche Middle East & Africa FZE will introduce the new generation Panamera models in all markets with the first customer deliveries starting from July 2013 onwards.

The Panamera S E-Hybrid is priced at USD 132,313 in the GCC.
