The 2014 Dodge Durango & Jeep Cherokee launched | 2013 New York Auto Show
The Dodge brand is upping the ante in the fast-growing full-size sport-utility vehicle (SUV) and crossover segments, introducing the new 2014 Dodge Durango at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. Improved fuel efficiency comes along with the integration of the all-new standard eight-speed transmission with rotary shifter.
The formula for the 2014 Dodge Durango is simple. Chrysler extracted the best features from the previous Durango and spiced them up with all the latest technologies to produce a model that is now much more enhanced in design and functionality.
Named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for three years, Durango’s standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine paired with the new standard eight-speed transmission delivers improved performance. The standard flex-fuel 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine generates 290 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, and can tow up to 6,200 pounds. The 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine produces 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque with a tow rating of 7,400 pounds.
The 2014 Dodge Durango will be manufactured in the US at the Chrysler Group LLC’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP). It will be built on the same assembly line as the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Speaking of Cherokee, New York also witnessed the revelation of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee as well. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee comes with a new 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. Feature to look forward to is the new Jeep Selec-Terrain traction control system with up to five customized modes – Auto, Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud and Rock.
Four variants of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be sold in the US. It is expected to arrive in the Middle East in the third quarter of 2013.
