Nissan Patrol drives Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge for 10th year
Nissan Patrol will continue to be the official car of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge marking a ten-year partnership between the rally’s organizers and Nissan Middle East. The announcement was made by Nissan and the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE).
The 23rd Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will take place from April 4-11th. Drivers and riders from different areas will participate in this event over the stunning desert terrain of Western Region of Al Garbia. The event is hosted under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It starts and finishes at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit.
Nissan Patrol is playing a vital role in the planning and staging of the cross country rally, part of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies for cars and trucks, and the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship for bikes.
“The Nissan Patrol has proved to be the perfect vehicle for our route planning team over the years because of its reliability and versatility in the Liwa desert. The Patrol is also one of the all time favourites for many competitors, as well as being the perfect on-event support vehicle.”- Dr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the ATCUAE.
It will be the 10th year for Nissan Patrol cars to be used by the route planning team journeying deep into the Liwa desert, crossing a sea of giant dunes, to carve out the competitive stages that test competitors and their rally machinery to the limit. They will also be used to ensure that the rally runs smoothly to its conclusion.
Rally’s fourth and also the toughest leg happening on April 10th is named after Nissan and stretches to some 317 kilometers of the most testing rallying terrain available.
