2014 Nissan LEAF marks Nissan’s presence at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show
Nissan showcased the updated version of its electric car LEAF, of which 50,000 units have been sold till date, at the Geneva Motor Show. The Japanese car manufacturer claims it to be the best-selling electric vehicle ever.
Wondering what LEAF abbreviates to? It is an acronym for Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car.
The revised front grille of the new Nissan LEAF further reduces the aerodynamic drag coefficient Cd figure and is certified at 199k under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The charger has been relocated and now sits under the bonnet, which has increased the luggage capacity of the electric car.
With the introduction of a new LED inspection light at the charging port area at the front, drivers don’t have to rely on the street lights to connect their car to an electric source. The new i-Key of the Nissan LEAF controls the charging port cover and cable lock.
The European-built Nissan LEAF is specifically engineered for the native market and is built at the Sunderland facility. The range has been expanded to provide buyers with more choice on equipment, color and price.
Nissan also released the new Note that has been completely redesigned and is set to shift into the B-segment with its combination of sharp design and low CO2 emissions. The new Nissan Note brings the distinctive features of the Nissan Invitation Concept car in its own framework.
Unique features are the Around View Monitor and a comprehensive network of safety systems that combine to form the Nissan Safety Shield. Nissan Note will be launched in Europe in the autumn of this year.
Nissan’s Resonance Concept also marked its presence at the Geneva Motor Show. Created by Nissan Design America, the Resonance is packed with advanced cabin technologies and pushes e boundaries of crossover design in its makeup.
The interior is inspired by the concept of VIP space travel and it is powered by an advanced hybrid electric drivetrain that combined efficient performance with low emissions.
Besides these three models, Nissan also introduced the Juke Nismo, 370Z Nismo and the latest 2013 GT-R at the Geneva Motor Show.
