Rolls Royce Wraith Debuts at the Geneva Motor Show

Rolls-Royce has launched the Wraith which is claimed to be their most powerful and dynamic car ever. Wraith embodies a fastback design powered by 624 bhp/465kW and a torque of 800 Nm only from 1,500 rpm and can zoom from  0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds (0-62 in 4.6). It is interesting to see a fastback from Rolls Royce – a rather refreshing change from the straight line design of its cars in the past.

In Europe, the Rolls Royce Wraith will be priced at c. €245k. Pricing details in all markets will be revealed later in the year. First deliveries of Wraith will be made to customers in the final quarter of 2013.

The interior is built from Phantom-grade leathers and expanses of wood called Canadel Panelling. Starlight Headliner, a Bespoke feature available beyond Phantom family cars for the first time, adds to the interior of the vehicle. The roof lining holds 1,340 fibre optic lamps hand-woven together.

The V12 engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission to yield power delivery that is effortless but dramatic. Wide rear track, shorter wheelbase and lower roof height contribute to the powerful driving experience.

The Rolls Royce Wraith debuts Satellite Aided Transmission, a technology that uses GPS mapping data to ensure the correct gear is always pre-selected for the road terrain ahead. Corners, motorway junctions and roundabouts are all anticipated in advance

The design and functionality of the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller contribute towards improvements in the communications. This allows navigation through on-screen functions using a touch pad that features pinch and pull functionality to echo smart phone usage. Letters can also be ‘drawn’ onto the pad by hand.
