2013 Chevrolet Sonic Dusk sedan announced
Chevy has announced the production version of the Sonic Dusk sedan at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic is positioned between the all-new Spark and the Cruze in Chevy’s small car portfolio. The Dusk started life as one of many Sonic concepts displayed at SEMA last year.
The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic Dusk sedan displayed at SEMA comes exclusively in an Ashen Grey hue while the rest of the sedan gets matte finish trim on the grille, door handles and rear deck lid in addition to stainless steel trim used for the lower window mouldings. The new car also gets large 18-inch aluminium wheels and a rear spoiler to add to the sporty feel. It features leather-trimmed seats with suede accents and Mojave tan inserts.
Safety seems a top priority as well for the guys at Chevrolet. The car comes with a whopping number of airbags as standard, well 10 to be precise! The car now comes with features such as Chevrolet’s infotainment system MyLink as standard, including a seven-inch colour touch screen radio capable of displaying smartphone-based music, videos, photos and contacts for hands-free calling.
The Dusk will be powered by Chevrolet’s 1.4-litre Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at 138 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque between 1,850 rpm and 4,900 rpm. The engine is mated with a six-speed transmission and production models offer a six-speed manual or automatic.
“Just like we’ve done with Corvettes and Camaros, we’re taking another one of our core products and adapting it to our customers’ lifestyles,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “The reaction to the Sonic Dusk concept last year was overwhelmingly positive and proved customers are interested in a more-refined subcompact. We’re moving quickly to bring Sonic Dusk to Chevrolet showrooms.”
