Paris Motor Show: 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4/4S
Posted on October 22, 2012 by Piyush
The 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4s are being launched in the market each as Coupé and Cabriolet. They now feature the active All-Wheel Drive system PTM (Porsche Traction Management) in both forms.
Straight off, the most distinct identifying feature about the new 911 Carrera 4 with all-wheel drive are the sexy haunches that are 22 millimeters further across and tires that are ten millimeters wider than the ones found on two-wheel-drive 911s.
The new Carrera 4 is up to 65 kg lighter in weight and because of this and the PTM, the four models now consume significantly less fuel than the previous models, by as much as 16 per cent. 0 to 100 kph comes up in 4.3 seconds in the Carrera 4S, which goes all the way up to a top speed of 299 kph. With PDK transmission, one can shave off 0.2 seconds from 0-100kph runs, but sticking with manual is more fun. Also, with the manual, one can opt for the Sport Chrono pack which when switched to Sport Plus mode provides for automatic double-declutching downshifts. Nice!
Inside, an addition to the instrument cluster is a gauge informing the driver of how the PTM system is working. The model also gets adaptive cruise control and a sliding glass roof . When the car is launched, the prices will start at $91,030 for the Carrera 4 and up to $117,530 for the 4S Cabriolet. AutoMiddleEast expects to see the car in the Middle East very soon.
