2013 Audi R8 gets a facelift, R8 V10 added to the family

2013 Audi R8

has released first pictures and details of the 2013 R8. The car gets cosmetic treatment for better looks, a new 7-speed transmission and R8 V10 variant.

For 2013, the gets a new bumper with optional carbon fiber front splitter, new LED lights at front and rear of the car, a new ‘R’ badge, glossy tailpipes, larger wheels and optional LED illumination of the engine compartment.

The Audi R8 V10 gets front splitter, LED engine compartment illumination as standard, in addition to matt black tail pipes and more carbon fiber all around. Exclusive matt effect body colors are also available for the R8 V10 plus car.

A 5204cc naturally aspirated, hand assembled V10 sits under the bonnet of the new Audi R8 V10 avatar. Available only in coupe form, the R8 V10 is just 10kg heavier than Audi’s R8 V8 coupe and tips the scale at 1570 kilos. The engine produces a monstrous 530Nm of torque at 6500rpm and 525bhp at 8000 rotations per minute.

A significant change is the new 7-speed gearbox which comes as standard on the Audi R8 V10, but optional on the V8 versions. The V8 versions come standard with 6-speed manual gearbox. The new 7-speed gearbox comes with launch control. It is faster and smoother and designed to reduce carbon emissions of the car by up to 22 grams/km. The 7-speed gearbox takes the Auto R8 V10 from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reached a top speed of 314 km/h.

Sitting on top of the range is the Audi R8 V10 plus. Riding on power of 550 ponies and 540Nm torque at 6500rpm, this car catapults from 0-100 is just 3.5 seconds. It is capable of taking the needle to 317 km/h mark.

Deliveries are expected to start later this year.

The base price is EUR 113,500 for the V8 Coupe, and EUR 124,800 for the Spyder. The V10 variants are listed at EUR 154,600 and EUR 165,900 respectively, while the R8 V10 plus costs EUR 173,200.
