Since its launch in 1998, the has been seen as an iconic car with a distinct style statement. The first generation TT became an immediate styling hit with its curvy look and compact dimensions. The current version is the second generation that was launched in 2006. The is based on the VW A-platform and shares some of its underpinnings with the A4. Both these cars also have similar engines as a result.

The Audi TT is available as a and a . Audi also sells a TT RS coupe. The coupe and the  are powered by a 2-litre inline-4 TFSI engine that produces 211bhp and the TT RS coupe gets a 2.5-litre inline-5 engine with a maximum output of 340bhp. The non-RS variants get a 6-speed S tronic automatic transmission while the RS variant gets a 7-speed S tronic automatic transmission. The coupe variant is available with a front-wheel-drive option as well.

As with all Audis, the TT can also be configured with a long options list which includes design, interior and performance upgrades. Standard equipment features driver and passenger front and curtain airbags, ABS, electronic brake distribution and traction control.
