It comes as no surprise that Porsche is carrying out a cosmetic operation for the Panamera for 2013. Test mules with camouflaged front and rear fascias have been spotted on test tracks and proving grounds in Europe. But now, new details have started emerging on what’s underneath its skin.

According to a recent report in Car Magazine, the Panamera facelift is all set to be revealed in April 2013 with heavily redesigned body panels that makes it “almost look like a new car.” This is a bold claim considering that test mules have been photographed with redesigned bumpers and new headlights. Car writes the panache of the new Boxster could be sighted on the 2013 .

The bigger news is that under the Panamera S’s cowl, in place of the V8, a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with approximately 420bhp drives the wheels. Car has also speculated on the inclusion of the Audi-sourced V8 TDI motor without taking a guess on the outputs.

Despite the facelift operation, Porsche is reportedly planning a completely new Panamera to replace the current model on the VW Group’s new MSB platform for a debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. The platform could help the car shed 91 kg and aid in the introduction of alternate fuel powertrains.
