2012 C

The IS C debuted a decade after the sedan version went on sale. Unveiled to the world in 2008, the IS C is built on a strengthened version of the same sedan platform. The 2012 IS C can go from hardtop to in less than 21 seconds.

The 3.5-liter V6 engine on the 2012 Lexus IS C delivers 228bhp and 252Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters is standard.

On the inside the IS C has some additional features when compared to the sedan. The air conditioning system automatically adjusts for the outside temperature when the roof is lowered. An equalizer system maintains the same acoustic field when the top is either open or closed, compensating for the natural loss of bass sounds when open. Standard features include a Lexus Premium Audio System featuring a six-disc, in-dash CD changer, eight speakers (10 on top variant), Bluetooth hands free phone capability and music streaming, and USB/iPod connectivity.

The IS C shares common double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension systems with the IS F sport sedan. Standard Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management System (VDIM) governs all of the vehicle’s dynamic handling systems – the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC).

In addition to the dual-front airbags, the restraint system  for the 2012 IS C includes front-seat-mounted head and torso side airbags and knee airbags for both the driver and the front passenger.
