2013 Mitsubishi Outlander
Eleven years since it first coined the term “crossover”, Mitsubishi has unveiled the third generation Outlander at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. This new Outlander is based on a revised platform carried over from the older generation car.
This new car is similar in size to the current car but has design revisions and some major tweaks under the skin. Mitsubishi claims to having improved the interior quality and the dashboard and the gauges have been redesigned as well.
The new Outlander will be available as either a 5-seater or a 7-seater and will have a choice of two different engines; the “4J11″ – 150bhp 2-litre MIVEC petrol engine and the “4N14″ – a 150bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine. These engine specifications are for the European market where the car will launched first.
The new Outlander will also have automatic stop and go system. An all-new 6-speed automatic gearbox, adaptive cruise control system and many more improvements over the outgoing version.
Mitsubishi also plans to introduce a twin-motor plug-in hybrid based on the outlander platform and it will be capable of running in pure electric form using both the motors.
