The RAV4 heralded a new era of compact crossovers back in 1994. It was designed to offer the consumers the benefits if a SUV along with the maneuverability of a smaller car. Currently in its third generation, the RAV4 has grown bigger in size and faces a tough competition from many new comers in the compact segment.

Powering the 2012 Toyota RAV4 is a 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 168bhp of maximum power at 6000rpm. Maximum torque is 223Nm at 4000rpm. This engine is the same as in the Fortuner and the Land Cruiser Prado. The transmission on the RAV4 is a four-speed automatic with a fulltime four-wheel drive.

The 2012 Toyota RAV4 is available in five trim levels. Standard equipment includes a six-speaker audio system, fully adjustable steering column, height adjustable drivers seat, central locking, ABS, and dual front airbags. On the exterior it gets a spoiler, body coloured rear view mirrors and 17-inch steel wheels as standard.

The top of the line gets a host of electronic features such as stability control, cruise control, parking sensors and Bluetooth enabled stereo with auxiliary ports. It also gets leather seats and front seat heaters. 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, roof rails, chrome accents and side protection mouldings.
