2012 Toyota Corolla | new car review

The Corolla has a reputation for providing excellent value for money; low operating costs and reliability. Its trouble free nature has made it the affordable choice of many in the UAE. It’s comfortable, spacious and has a good amount of standard and optional features. The 2012 Corolla is available with a choice of 1.6-litre or 1.8-litre petrol engines, coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 1.6-litre engine produces 121bhp at 6000rpm and 153Nm of torque at 5200rpm. The 1.8-litre engine produces 134bhp at 6000rpm and 174Nm of peak torque at 4400rpm. The performance is not something that will satisfy an enthusiast but then this is more of a family car than anything else. On the inside the 2012 Corolla gets manual air conditioning, adjustable steering column, and a four-speaker audio system as standard equipment. It also comes with 15-inch steel wheels and 15-inch alloys depending on the variant. The Corolla is available in three trim levels, S, SE and SE+. On the safety front you get two front airbags that are standard on all variants. ABS and EBD is also standard on all variants.
