2012 Toyota Avalon | new car review

The 2012 Avalon moves remains unchanged because of the upgrades it received in 2011. Even though the Avalon replaced the Aurion in the international market but both these cars share showroom space in the Middle East. The Avalon is a larger than both the Camry and the Aurion. It offers good levels of space and luxury and is often refereed to as a Lexus minus the badging. Internationally has two variants of the Avalon but only the top of the line Limited’ version is available in the Middle East.

The Avalon is powered by a 24-valve, dual-overhead cam (DOHC) 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 280bhp at 6,200 rpm and 352Nm of torque at 4,700 RPM.  The engine is equipped with the dual VVT-i electronic valve-control system. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2012 Toyota Avalon is available in only one trip and is equipped with leather-trimmed interior, eight-way power driver’s seat, back-up camera, dual zone automatic climate control with air filtration, sunroof and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other features include heated and cooled front seats, an eight-way front passenger’s seat with lumbar support, driver’s seat cushion extension, rain-sensing windshield wipers and Smart Key.  The steering wheel provides fingertip control switches for Bluetooth hands-free phones, the audio system, climate control system and the vehicle information center.

The Avalon has seven airbags, including a front knee airbag for the driver, and side curtain airbags for both rows. Other safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), traction control system.  Each wheel has its own pressure sensor to warn if tire pressure drops to critical levels, providing the driver with a warning.

    Well, to be honest, I didn’t like the outlook of the vehicle, but I must say it has got an absolutely striking interior as it is too comfortable.
