2011 Lexus CT 200hAdding to the 2012 hybrid range from is the CT200h, now available in the UAE. The CT 200h appeals to customers who desire a premium badge-d vehicle in their garage without hurting the wallet too much; and it helps if you are into hatchbacks.
Lexus has been kind enough to introduce the new F-sport styling cues for exterior and interior on the 2012 model. In that trim, the vehicle should get aesthetic enhancements such as a larger rear spoiler, flared side skirts, mesh grille, revised aero bumpers, 17” alloy wheels finished in gun-metal and electrochromatic door mirrors. (Awaiting confirmation on GCC spec models!). 2011 Lexus CT 200hThe heart of the CT 200h is a 98bhp 1.8-litre 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine supplemented by an electric motor. The electric only EV mode propels the CT 200h at low speeds and stop-and-go driving conditions, reducing fuel consumption and noise, in the process generating zero CO2 along with zero NOx emissions. The very successful regenerative braking also makes its way into the spec sheet. Customers may be concerned about the hybrid battery life but Lexus assures its operation for the full life of the vehicle itself. Performance claims are not news breaking, but sufficient for everyday travel. 0 to 100km/h times are in the 10 second range while quarter mile times are beyond scope of the topic. In any case the remarkable avg. fuel economy of 5.8l/100km will beat any econo-mover, even the in-house Yaris and to boot Lexus claim their hybrid vehicles release nearly 70 % fewer smog-producing emissions than their petrol engine counterparts. Handling and braking dynamics though, are top notch in this premium compact. Works of the F division, we assume!2011 Lexus CT 200hTo serve distinct driving moods are the dynamic or comfort settings. Sport mode offers a more direct steering response and quicker acceleration while the Eco mode focuses on fuel efficiency and smoothness. The instrument panel back lighting also automatically shifts from hybrid blue to red and the hybrid power metre is replaced by the rpm display.
The CT 200h being a Lexus comes with a host of conveniences namely, leather seats, cruise control, pop up sat-nav, Bluetooth connectivity, 10 speaker Mark Levinson audio system and a reversing camera. Some are optional while some come standard.
The CT 200h will be offered in 10 exterior colours and 3 packages. The base model ‘Premier’ is priced at AED 138,000; the mid-range ‘Prestige’ at AED 166,000 and the full spec ‘Platinum’ at AED 178,000. Amongst the exterior paint jobs, Mercury Gray replaces Dark Gray.
