2012 Lexus LS 600h LThe 600h was amongst the first full hybrid vehicles launched in the U.A.E. and now follows on with it’s 2012 model. The 600h is the pinnacle of brand (disregard the LFA Nurburgring Edition in this conversation). It provides a generous mix of performance, comfort and technology, and is a peek (only a peek) into the future of eco-friendly motoring.
The LS 600h L hybrid powertrain is a synchronous combination of  a 389bhp 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine capable of 520Nm torque and 2 powerful electric motors served by a large-capacity battery pack. In totality, the powertrain generates a peak output of 438bhp and the 600h can snub ‘wannabe’ racers at traffic light with its sub-6 second 0 to 100km/h runs, Lexus say 5.5seconds and 13.8 seconds for the quarter mile. Even passing manoeuvres are hardly a task, with the impressive mid-range grunt plus the electric motor’s on demand torque means the much revered 80 to 110 km/h times are a scanty 3.5 seconds. 2012 Lexus LS 600h LLexus claim their hybrid vehicles release nearly 70 % fewer smog-producing emissions less than their petrol engine counterparts. Infact, it’ s been certified as a Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV II). AWD on a Lexus sedan may seem out of place, even so this features an electronically controlled continuously variable version, backed with a Limited slip differential for crisper handling.
The long-wheelbase LS 600h gets all the comforts and conveniences in the LS series, the Lexus voice navigation system and Bluetooth are examples of such. Also, musical theatrics from your fav CD or radio station are amplified by the 19-speaker 450-watt Mark Levinson® Reference Surround Sound audio system. The driver and passenger seats come with 4 way & 2 way lumbar support, respectively. The rear passengers while watching a DVD on the Rear Entertainment System can enjoy the new pelvic support design which cushions the back of rear seats in an S-shaped posture, a world’s first and specific to the right rear passenger seat is the fully retractable ottoman that reclines and comes equipped with an advanced massage system. The intelligent 4 zone auto climate control system equipped with infrared sensors reads the temperature of a passenger’s upper and lower body, as well as the seat, and adjusts accordingly.
2012 Lexus LS 600h LThere are 11 exterior paint schemes available, but we see-off the Dark Gray and welcome the replacement Mercury Gray for 2012. Interiors come in 4 varieties of semi-aniline leather upholstery. Features that distinguish it from its petrol-heart sibling are 7-spoke 19” rims wear 245-width tyres, signature hybrid blue accents a redesigned grille, head lamps and rear lamps. The vehicle on start up and while reversing runs solely on electric power, leaving NVH low as ever. Safety features are several, but a few that make for highlights are the Adaptive front lighting system, Front and rear crumple zones and Active head rests. The Intelligent Park Assist is a skilled piece of technology allowing parallel and reverse parking, free of driver input, almost!
With an EPA fuel economy rating of 11.8l/100km, the 600h has a theoretical range in excess of 700kms. The Prestige model gets a AED 463,000 price tag while the dealer recommended price for the Platinum model is AED 472,000.
The shipping tycoon or Investment banker who wishes to enrich their conversations with equals  will find that the hybrid 600h L serving purpose.2012 Lexus LS 600h L
