2011 Type 2.2

Techies at the Northampton-based Euro have taken that myth-inspiring K20 2.0-litre motor and increased cylinder bore and stroke to create a 2156cc engine which is now fitted in what they call Civic Type R 2.2. Power has gone up from 237bhp to 256bhp and torque figures peak at 240Nm at 6,000rpm. The 2.0-litre petrol engine is amongst the greatest naturally aspirated engine and was an obvious choice for many a motorsport competitor. It was homologated as an FIA Group N race series engine by MUGEN.2011 Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2 It powered both the Japan-only Honda Civic MUGEN RR saloon and the 20-limited UK only Honda Civic Type R MUGEN, which debuted in 2010. Environmental concerns have led to ceasing production of the engine in Japan. What Mugen have done is made the best motor better and bolted on a plethora of motorsport-derived components that include a sports suspension, upgraded brakes and an aero-improve bodykit – the MUGEN 2.2 is the epitome of the Honda Civic Type R philosophy.2011 Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2
