Dodge has unveiled the performance oriented Charger SRT8 at the 2011 Chicago Motor Show.

The 2012 SRT8 features a new 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine which belts out 465bhp and maximum torque at 2,900rpm. Moreover the engine has the technology to run on four cylinders when power demands are modest thereby saving fuel. The V8 motor is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with steering mounted paddle shifters.

To put the additional power to good use the SRT8 makes use of adaptive damping suspension with Auto and Sport settings along with larger brake discs both at the front and rear. Dodge is claiming a 0-100kph time of less than five seconds for the Charger SRT8.

The Charger SRT8 differentiates itself from the normal version via a new front fascia, LED taillights, new dual exhausts and 20-inch alloy wheels. There is no official confirmation yet on when the Charger SRT8 would be made available in the Middle East.
