Porsche’s 918 road car will be the Spyder

Porsche production version of the 918 Concept will be the Spyder convertible according to the company’s outgoing VP for product development Wolfgang Dürheimer.

Porsche had unveiled two versions of the 918 one being a road going hybrid roadster while the other was a fixed-rood racing coupe. According to the new revelation a Spyder version of the 918 will be built for road use and will feature removable roof panel on the lines of the Carrera GT.

A track use version of the car is also expected to be built and that would have a fixed roof and upward hinged doors like those on the 918 RSR concept. The 918 Spyder is expected to launch only by late 2013-2014.
