Kia posts 26.5% global sales growth in 2010

Kia Motors global sales for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles for 2010 hit an all-time high of 2,089,355 units sold, an annual year-on-year increase of 26.5% and marks the first time the Korean auto maker has crossed the 2 million unit sales mark.

, with sales of 403,303 cars sold worldwide, played a significant role in the sales growth followed by Sportage and with 207,922 and 205351 units sold respectively.

Middle East, a part of what Kia defines as general markets, was the highest growth region with 47.1% increase in year-on-year sales followed by China that registered a 38.3 growth in overall sales volumes as compared to 2009.

In keeping with its aggressive product strategy, Kia will be launching the next generation Picanto and Rio cars later this year, commented Thomas Oh, Senior Executive Vice President & COO, Kia Motors Corporation.
