German magazine Der Spiegel has reported that luxury carmaker Bugatti is working on a new uber luxury sedan which it will launch by 2014.

Said to be based on the Audi A8 (both are VW group companies) the new Bugatti sedan will be designed on the lines of the 16C Galibier Concept (pictured here) which was unveiled back in 2009. The Galibier concept is a super luxury four-seater sedan powered by modified version of the Veyron’s 16-cylinder engine.

The sedan will however enter production once the Veyron has been phased out. This will enable the company to focus all its resources on making the new luxury sedan a success. It’s reported that the decision to follow the Veyron with a sedan was based on increasing sales and becoming a profitable brand in the Volkswagen family.
