The 2011 Edge features 's latest signature grille

Ford has given the 2011 Edge SUV its Middle East debut in Dubai.

Shown off at the GITEX technology show, the latest model features new engines and exterior upgrades as well as an all-new interior and technology.

Two new engine options are offered – a 3.5-litre V6 with 285bhp or a 3.7-litre V6 with 305bhp. The larger engine appears in the Edge Sport model while the smaller finds its home in the SE, SEL and Limited variants. Both come with six-speed automatic transmissions and the Sport edition gets paddle shifters.

Exterior upgrades include Ford’s signature grille, new rear lights and new exhaust tips while technical tweaks include new subframe mounts to reduce road noise. The suspension has been adjusted to improve handling and reduce noise inside the car.

New exhausts and wheels also feature on the latest Edge

The MyFord Touch technology is standard on the Limited and Sport models and uses two 4.2-inch colour monitors either side of an analogue speedometer, as well as an eight-inch touch screen in the centre console. The screens can be controlled by a switch on each side of the steering wheel, which gives the driver access to both entertainment and phone settings.

Other tech available on the edge includes SYNC iPod connectivity, keyless entry keypad on the doors, AdvanceTrac stability control, adaptive cruise control and a collision warning system, as well as a blind spot information system.

Prices and exact specifications will vary around the Middle East depending on dealers, but as a guide, UAE prices start at 99,950AED for the base SE model and rise to 149,000 for the Edge Sport.

The front looks good & different though a bit like taurus, but the back is almost the same. Still I consider buying this one. A good SUV.

[Pankaj] @ Juberoni – yeah the shiny stuff on its face is Ford’s new design signature which can be seen on other models as well. Makes it look kinda bold and muscular, but a bit too much in the face as well…
