The Speedster features a "double-bubble" roof cover

has announced a limited edition 911 that pays tribute to the classic 1953 356 Speedster.

Called the 911 Speedster, the two-seater has a lower, more raked windscreen than the regular 911 and a manually-folding soft roof, covered by a “double-bubble” cover, as well as a unique body kit.

The rear-wheel drive car has a rear end 44mm wider than the standard car. It will be limited to just 356 cars and will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.

The interior is trimmed in black and either Pure Blue or Carrera White

Power comes from Porsche’s 3.8-litre flat six engine delivering 402bhp, yet promising fuel consumption of 10.3 litres per 100km – the same as the less powerful 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. Gears are shifted with the seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK transmission. Porsche Active Suspension Management and ceramic composite brakes are standard.

The idea for the Speedster came from Porsche’s Exclusive arm, which specialises in the customisation of cars and special editions. Its release will mark the 25th anniversary of Porsche Exclusive in 2011.

The 911 Speedster features almost all the optional equipment available across the 911 range, as well as a hand-finished interior in black leather and exclusive exterior painted details. Unique touches include chequered patterns on the seat and leather side bolsters the same colour as the vehicle’s exterior.

The 911 Speedster has a unique bodykit and tinted headlights

The Pure Blue paint job has been developed exclusively for the Speedster and contrasts with tinted front lights, black headlight rings and black windscreen surrounds. If blue’s not your colour, you can also order the Speedster in Carrera White.

In the GCC the 911 Speedster will cost USD 209,654 (770,039AED). The first models are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2011.
