Aston Martin has revealed a sketch of its new LMP1 race car which will compete in the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hour race.

Done up in partner Gulf Oil’s livery the Aston Martin LMP1 will be powered by a new petrol engine developed in accordance to Automobile Club De L’Ouest (ACO) technical regulations for 2011.

In the past Aston Martin has won the GT category at Le Mans twice, in 2007 and 2008, while it won the Le Mans Series in 2009. The car’s test runs will begin in early 2011 with six test cars produced at Aston Martin Racing’s headquarters in Banbury, UK.
