Suzuki’s Kizashi sets new speed record

Suzuki’s soon to be launched Kizashi sedan has set a new speed record at USA’s Bonneville Speed Week clocking 327.8kph on the salt plains.

The record attempt was Suzuki’s move to gain performance credibility for its new flagship car. The record setting Kizashi was heavily modified and used a special turbocharger and intercooler to boost its 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine’s power output to 500bhp. The car was driven by Road & Track magazine’s Sam Mitani.

The Kizashi is expected to launch in the Middle East by the end of 2010.
