While most auto manufacturers seem to be focussing on clean engine technology Honda has reportedly ditched its plans altogether.

Reports from Japan suggest that Honda is diverting its energies to develop hybrid powertrains instead of diesel engines. The carmaker is already developing a new hybrid system which is aimed for use in vehicles larger than the Civic Hybrid and the Insight.

Honda is keen to match Toyota’s hybrid technology and is working towards increasing the range of its electric motors and overall fuel efficiency of its electric vehicles.
