Bugatti Veyron Super Sport sets new land speed record

A new, improved version of the already-powerful Bugatti has set a new land speed world record.

The Veyron Super Sport set a new fastest velocity for a production car of 431kph at the Volkswagen proving grounds in Germany.

Instead of the 1,001bhp of the standard Veyron 16.4 the Veyron Super Sport belts out 1,200bhp and 1,500Nm of torque.

The Veyron Super Sport will debut in the metal at the Pebble Beach Motor Show in California in August 2010.

The first five production Super Sports will come with the same specifications and black and orange colour scheme as the record car. However, their top speed will be limited to 415kph to protect the tyres.
