GM recalls more than 22,000 vehicles in the Middle East

is recalling more than 22,000 Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer vehicles in the Middle East because of a potential fire risk.

The is in reaction to a problem discovered with a feature that heats fluid in the vehicles’ washer system.

A GM Middle East spokesman told AutoMiddleEast that the recall affected a total of 22,472 vehicles in the Middle East, including 6,126 in the UAE.

“There have been no reports of any injuries or property damage but in the States they have seen a few incidents where there was a short circuit on the printed circuit board, which could overheat the control circuit ground wire and could pose a fire risk, ” he said.

The vehicles affected are:

  • 2006 – 2009 Cadillac DTS
  • 2007 – 2009 Cadillac Escalade
  • 2008 – 2009 Cadillac CTS (not the CTS-V)
  • 2007 – 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe
  • 2009 Chevrolet Traverse
  • 2007 – 2009 GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL
  • 2006 – 2009 Hummer H2

There have been no reports of any incidents in the Middle East. Nevertheless, GM will be contacting local customers and offering a solution to the problem. The system will be disabled, as it’s not needed in the region due to the climate. The procedure will take around 30 minutes. Affected customers will be given $100 (367AED) in compensation for the inconvenience.
