2010 Ferrari California

The 2010 California is a two-door hardtop produced by Ferrari since 2008.

It is a rear-wheel drive grand tourer that blends Ferrari’s renowned performance with the comfort and practicality of a luxury coupe cabriolet.

With a price under 1 million AED, Ferrari wants the California to attract new buyers to the marque and compete with the likes of the Bentley Continental GTC and Aston Martin DB9 Volante.

The California’s curvaceous exterior was derived after more than 1000 hours in a wind tunnel and is said to be very aerodynamic. Being a new model the car incorporates many new features never before seen on the Ferrari such as a quick-shifting seven-speed dual clutch transmission, a front-mounted V8 direct injection petrol engine and a folding metal roof which goes up or down in less than 15 seconds.

It’s not just the roof that is fast; Ferrari claims the GT convertible can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in less than four seconds and achieve a top speed of 310kph. Being a grand touring car the California features a multi-link rear suspension, which provides higher ride comfort than the traditional double-wishbone setup found in other Ferrari models.

While the 2010  is a 2+2 seater it’s safe to say it can only accommodate two adults as there is close to zilch legroom at the rear. Buyers can opt to have a leather lined cargo shelf in place of the pointless rear seats. The interior layout, fit and finish is top flight and very well equipped for a Ferrari.

Standard equipment includes bi-xenon headlights with LEDs, 19-inch alloy wheels, a “manettino” control knob on the steering wheel, full leather interior and a high end CD/MP3 audio system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen display and hard-drive-based navigation. Options include diamond-finish 19 or 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, carbon-fibre interior trim and adaptive magnetic dampers.
