Audi reveals the range topping 2011 A8 L
Audi has revealed details and images of its top-end 2011 A8 L ahead of its official debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this month.
The A8 L is essentially the long wheel base version of the recently introduced 2011 A8 sedan and is almost half a foot longer than the latter.
The extra length has resulted in a cavernous interior, which judging by the official image looks luxurious and well appointed with top grade materials.
At the time of launch later this year the A8 L will feature a sole 500bhp 6.3-litre W12 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with Quattro all-wheel drive. Audi claims this engine is capable of propelling the car from 0-100kph in under five seconds. Audi will later introduce a smaller V8 engine in the A8 L as well.
Not only is the A8 L big on size but it’s also big on equipment and comes loaded with plenty of gizmos including adaptive cruise control, night vision with pedestrian detection, lane assist and side assist and stability control.
The cabin is dotted with comfort and entertainment features such as leather upholstery, ambient lighting, heated and ventilated seats with full electric adjust, in-built seat massagers, four-zone climate control, refrigerator, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and two 10.2-inch LCD display units.
The A8 L also features Audi’s latest multimedia interface, the MMI 3G+ which integrates touch and handwriting recognition for entry of letters and numbers.
