BMW’s new 5 Series arrives in the Middle East
One of BMW’s highest selling models the 5 Series has gained a fresh lease of life with the launch of the all new 2011 model in the Middle East. The new 5 Series sedan is now available at BMW dealerships across the GCC including in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Designed from the ground up the new premium sedan features a less fussy exterior as compared to the outgoing model and seems to incorporate more design cues from the larger 7 Series. To compete effectively with the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and other executive sedans the 2011 5 Series has also grown in terms of size, comfort and equipment.
For the Middle East a choice of four petrol engines is available including one V8 and three inline six-cylinder engines. There is no diesel engine version at the moment. The top end BMW 550i is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine with 407 bhp while the BMW 535i, 528i and the base 523i are all powered by different versions of an inline six-cylinder engine with power varying between 204bhp to 306bhp depending on the model. The new 5 Series is packed with innovative features including iDrive, Dynamic Drive Control, automatic parking assistant, rear view camera, lane departure warning, night vision with pedestrian recognition, head-up display, rear seat entertainment and four-zone automatic climate control.
