Corvette safe, says GM
Corvette fans, fear not – the future of your beloved is strong according to the boss of General Motors.
Fritz Henderson, CEO of GM, which owns Chevrolet, said the historic US sport car will continue, despite the firm slashing costs left, right and centre.
At the end of last year it was announced that the next generation Corvette, the C7, was on hold. Henderson told AutoWeek that the new version was on track, but wouldn’t say when it would be released. He also said “Corvette pays its rent”, indicating that the model returns a profit.
The current generation C6 Corvette has been in production since 2005 – expect to see a few more ‘Vettes that use that existing platform before we get a complete overhaul then.
