Cheaper vehicle insurance for safe drivers in the UAE

Safe drivers in the UAE will be given special discounts on insurance for driving accident free and not earning black points. The Ministry of Interior has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Emirates Insurance Association (EIA) which provides for varying rates of discount depending on the period for which the driver has been able to drive without getting involved in an accident or getting black points. The scheme has been designed to promote road safety across the UAE and reward those to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

The discount slabs are as follows:

• 20 per cent discount for one year without traffic accidents and black points
• 25 per cent discount for two years without traffic accidents and black points
• 30 per cent discount for three years without traffic accidents and black points
• 35 per cent discount for four years without traffic accidents and black points
• One year’s free insurance against civil liability for five years without traffic accidents and black points

To avail of the discount drivers will need to obtain a document from the Interior Ministry which certifies their clean traffic records.
