Chevrolet planning to launch Camaro convertible in 2011

The hot selling Camaro will soon sport a drop top when the convertible is launched in the first half of 2011. The new body style will enable the Camaro to better compete with the Ford Mustang which comes in both coupe and convertible forms. Spy pictures of the production version Camaro convertible reveal a soft-top which when retracted does away with the limited visibility issues of the coupe. Despite the lack of a fixed roof the Camaro manages to retain its muscular appeal.

According to reports the Camaro convertible will be offered in the same trim versions as the coupe; LS, LT and SS. While the LS and LT will be powered by a 3.6 litre V6 engine mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission the SS model will come with a 6.2L V8 and a six-speed manual transmission.
