If one thing that heads of auto companies from around the world agreed on, it was “2009 is over”.

From Americas to the Land of the Rising Sun, 2009 will be noted as a year that changed the face of auto industry permanently. Dotted with bankruptcies, job losses and death of a number of car brands, 2009 was a very challenging year for business. A sigh of relief and undertones of optimism were clearly heard in all the briefings to the motoring press from around the world.

The 2010 Detroit Motor Show is a reflection of lean & green philosophy.  Auto makers have invested billions of dollars over the past few years in earth friendly technologies which are now closer to the consumer’s doorsteps than ever before. High energy costs and the environmental concerns are driving car maker’s agenda for the next decade.

As I walk around the floor of the 2010 Detroit Motor Show, it’s time to take a deep breath and enjoy a new era – the start of the rebuilding of the auto industry.  And for the best live and up-to-date coverage of this show, keep it tuned to AutoMiddleEast.com.
