The special edition Toyota Yaris hatchbacks

Posted on December 7, 2009 by Editor

Fans of the hit UK motoring show Top Gear may well be familiar with the episode that featured Toyota Aygo hatchbacks playing soccer.

Toyota Middle East were clearly watching, and have used the FIFA Club World Cup, taking place in Abu Dhabi, as an excuse to dress up seven Yaris hatchbacks in the colours of the competing team.

Alas, there are no plans to actually use them to play a game of football. Probably just as well, considering the damage it would cause.

The teams are Pohang Steelers FC of the Republic of Korea, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Atlante FC of Mexico, Estudiantes de La Plata of Argentina, Auckland City FC of New Zealand, FC Barcelona of Spain and the UAE’s own Al Ahli.

All seven vehicles will be on display throughout the tournament that will take place at Abu Dhabi’s two biggest stadiums, Zayed Sports City and Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium. The first game takes place on December 9, 2009.
