Aston Martin Rapide

Aston Martin has announced the price of its much awaited four-door Rapide sports car for its home market, the UK.

At £139,950, or about $233,000, the Rapide has been priced at a premium especially when compared to rival Porsche’s sedan, the Panamera. The Rapide has been priced at nearly double the British price of a base Panamera and a whole $74,000 more than the range-topping Panamera Turbo. The price is also much higher than the Maserati Quattroporte and almost at par with Bentley’s Continetal Flying Spur.

For the price buyers will get a 470bhp V12 engine, finely crafted interiors, plenty of tech gizmos and, of course, exclusivity. The Rapide will be hand-built at the new Plant in Graz, Austria.

Aston Martin will produce around 2,000 Rapides in the first year of production out of which a large proportion will likely be bought by first time Aston Martin customers. The company has confirmed that bookings are now open at dealerships around the world and the first batch of cars will roll out in the spring of 2010.
