2010 Saab 9-5

We wrote about the 2010 Saab 9-5 exactly a month ago when first pictures and details became available.

Now as the car is all set to officially debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, Saab has officially release new pictures and details of this premium sedan.

The design of the new 9-5 blends traditional Saab design cues with a contemporary sleek silhouette which is likely to appeal to a new generation of buyers.

The engine range at the time of launch will comprise of two petrol engines; a 220 bhp 2.0 litre turbocharged unit and a 2.8 litre V6 turbo with 300 bhp on tap. Later Saab will also plonk a fuel-efficient 1.6 litre 180 bhp turbo petrol engine in the new 9-5’s engine bay. All engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

2010 Saab 9-5Details on the car’s features reveal bi-xenon adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, Saab DriveSense adaptive chassis, head-up information display, keyless entry and start, parking assist and Saab’s XWD all-wheel drive system.

Interior comforts and goodies include a Harman Kardon 5.1 channel surround sound audio system (depending on the variant) and an 8-inch colour touch screen navigation system with hard disk storage for map data and music files.

This system allows rear passengers to listen to their own music or watch a DVD with the aid of folding viewing screens in the front seat backs and wireless headphones.

The 2010 9-5 is expected to go into production by the end of 2009 with a Middle East debut in the first quarter of 2010.
