Hummer has announced that its H3 is now on sale with a V8 engine in the Middle
East.

The H3 V8 features a 5.3-litre cast aluminum Vortec V8 engine that produces
344bhp of power and dishes out 318Nm of turning force at 4000 rpm.

The
Hummer was originally designed for the US military forces, to tackle
the roughest of terrains and the most adverse environmental conditions,
and that’s where the SUV draws is off-roading DNA from. The
V8 is the latest offering in the Hummer international lineup which
includes the Hummer H2, H2 SUT, H3, and H3T and comes with a 4-year
/100,000 km regional warranty.

GM claims the H3 offers best-in-class off-road features, which include the steepest approach and departure angles, shortest
turning radius and incredible low-speed tractability. The H3 can ascend
gradients as steep as 37.5 degrees, which, according to GM gives the
Hummer an advantage of 12.9% over its nearest competitor.

The Hummer
can also tackle an angle of 34.6 degrees while going down steep slopes,
endowing it with a claimed advantage of 19.3% over its closest rival.
While the high approach and departure angles make the Hummer a capable
obstacle muncher, the short turning radius makes it incredibly easy to
maneuver and the low crawl ratio of 68.9:1 give it the ability to crawl
over large obstacles at low speeds.

Speaking on the launch of the H3 in the Middle East, Adib Takieddine,
Hummer’s marketing manager said: “Off-road enthusiasts have been
waiting for this, and now with a new V8 engine, the most capable
off-road vehicle is now also the most powerful.”
