Al Futtaim has been named as the sole distributor for Volvo cars in Saudi Arabia.

The firm has distributed Volvo in the UAE since 1985 and has high hopes for the marque in Saudi, one of the fastest-growing markets in the Middle East.

The move follows the decision by the Zahid Tractor, the former distributor of Volvo in the Kingdom, to pull out of the car business to focus on other areas. Zahid will continue to sell cars and offer a full after sales service until the transfer to Al Futtaim is complete.

Len Hunt, group director for Al-Futtaim Automotive said: “Al Futtaim plans to open a network of modern showrooms and customer service outlets throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with sales and after-sales operations in all of the larger cities, providing the full range of automotive services that will meet the exacting standards set by our customers and our manufacturer partner.”
