One of the most fast-moving SUV nameplates inside the Toyota stable, the Landcrusier Prado with its distinctive design blends equally whether within the city limits or out in the desert throwing sand around. The front design maintains the tough look that the Prado is renowned for while its new grille and front bumpers add to its solid presence.

Through the decades the Prado has evolved remarkably and is now at the pinnacle of technology fused with excellent design. It has constantly been refined and taking advantage of technical and engineering advances that have delivered, the Prado has become even stronger and versatile. These developments have given the Prado a tremendous reputation for rock-solid build quality and a “go-anywhere” off-road ability balanced with smooth on-road performance.

The interior design combines the muscularity of a 4WD with the fine appointments of a sedan, offering a feeling of luxury. The famed Toyota standards of quality are very much in evidence in this machine. With the Prado, the feeling of space isn’t restricted to the outdoors. The cabin is spacious and roomy with expansive head, shoulder and legroom. The refined features of the luxurious interior – sports style driver’s seat, dual air-conditioner and 4-speaker (6-speakers on the top-of-the-range 4-cylinder and on 6-cylinder models) audio system – give that extra touch.

The Landcruiser Prado is available with two proven powerplants: a 4-cylinder 2.7-litre and a bigger 6-cylinder 4.0-litre unit. Maximum output for the 2.7-litre engine is 175 bhp but the engine is rendered much more flexible thanks to 245 Nm of maximum torque. The bigger 4.0-litre 6-cylinder unit develops 262 bhp and 393 Nm of torque and this engine is the sweeter of the two. The V6 powerplant delivers excellent low-to-mid rpm torque, which is indispensable in a true off-roader. Transmissions include a six-speed manual and an automatic 5-speed.

The Prado comes with the most advanced safety features. The front seats have dual SRS airbags that change inflator output according to the vehicle speed and level of impact. The Prado has a high-rigidity frame which is top on its class, making for stable handling and comfort even on rough roads.
