2008 Nissan Armada | new car review

Posted on Jun 25, 2009 by

If there is anything that ’s full-size SUV, the Armada, would call home; we would like to say it’s nothing but the vast desolateness of the Empty Quarter – only in such a vast expanse will this SUV look in scale. Everywhere else, it looks huge and intimidating. This is a big SUV and it makes no attempt to hide this fact. Armada’s progressive styling certainly caught the eye when it was first launched – and it still does, presenting an imposing image.

Big size means big space inside and the Armada does not disappoint. Three rows of seats accommodate eight passengers in utmost comfort with space to spare. All seats fold flat, including the front passenger seat to provide impressive versatility. Quality is quite good with all the controls placed ergonomically in a pleasing dashboard layout.

The Armada is powered by a beefy, aluminium-alloy V8 engine that delivers 360hp to provide brisk and responsive acceleration, along with 585Nm of torque to ensure top level traction in adverse terrain. Power is transmitted to all four wheels or two depending on the specification (4X2/4X4) through a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual override function.

With formidable 4WD capabilities, the Armada is up for most challenges but it should be stressed that it is equally at home on the highway and city streets, thanks  to a fully independent double-wishbone suspension that keeps this big fella well planted.
