2008 Lincoln Towncar | new car review

Posted on Jun 25, 2009 by

The flagship of Ford’s
Lincoln luxury car division, the Town Car is a rear-wheel drive
full-size traditional American luxury sedan. Massive and imposing
size-wise, the Town car is one of the favourite family sedans in
Saudi Arabia and also is a hot pick among limousine and chauffeured
cars owing mainly to its cosseting ride qualities and the big V8
power plant under its hood.

Lincoln offers three trim
series on the Town Car – Signature, Signature Limited, and
Signature L – available for retail customers and two additional
extended-wheelbase – the Executive L and Signature L series for the
limousine and livery market.

The Town Car’s exterior
design has a formal appearance with a chrome Lincoln signature grille
flanked by quad-beam halogen headlamps. High-intensity-discharge
headlamps are optional on Signature Limited and Signature L models. A
stand-up Lincoln star hood ornament sits at the leading edge of the
hood on all models. At the rear of the car, the fascia, tail lamps
and the chrome license plate surround present a clean, uncluttered
appearance. The standard extended rear park assist feature helps with
parking maneuvers.

Inside, the Town Car
features provides excellent seating comfort for six people together
with its massive boot to lug the entire luggage. Power adjustable
pedals, programmable keyless entry pad and dual-zone electronic
automatic climate control are all standard. Power open and close boot
is standard on most variants. The Executive L and Signature L add
rear-seat amenities such as folding armrest with tissue and storage
bins, dual power points, and remote push-button controls for the
audio system.

A 265 horsepower
4.6-litre V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission is the
standard power plant. All-speed traction control is standard and the
Town Car is equipped with Ford’s Personal Safety System that
includes dual-stage air bags.
